چکیده

In order to optimally utilize marine fishery resources, the Government of Republic Indonesia divides Indonesian waters into 11 Fisheries Management Areas (IFMA), one which is IFMA 713 includes Bone Gulf, Bali Sea, Flores Sea and Makassar Strait. This study aims provide information on utilization pelagic fish resources with a focus characteristics fishing areas using purse seine gear in Strait Sea. this study, 62 trips seines were carried out, each has 31 operation respectively. The main catch number for water area was skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) as many 2,367 (Makassar Strait). While area, it dominated by little (Euthynnus sp) total 11,039 fish. results indicate that correlation sea surface temperature chlorophyll-a negative relationship an optimum 30.5 °C 28.0 corresponds concentration 0.3 mg m-3 (skipjack tuna) 0.2 tuna. vertical distribution found at depth around 50 m, while most caught deeper 250 m.

Intraseasonal variability in the Makassar Strait thermocline

Intraseasonal variability [ISV] in the Makassar Strait thermocline is examined through the analysis of along-channel flow, regional sea level anomaly and wind fields from January 2004 through November 2006. The dominant variability of 45–90 day in the Makassar Strait along-channel flow is horizontally and vertically coherent and exhibits vertical energy propagation. The majority of the Makassar...

Intraseasonal Kelvin wave in Makassar Strait

[1] Time series observations during 2004–2006 reveal the presence of 60–90 days intraseasonal events that impact the transport and mixing environment within Makassar Strait. The observed velocity and temperature fluctuations within the pycnocline reveal the presence of Kelvin waves including vertical energy propagation, energy equipartition, and nondispersive relationship. Two current meters at...

The Makassar Strait Tsunamigenic Region, Indonesia

The Makassar Strait region has had the highest frequency of historical tsunami events for Indonesia. The strait has a seismic activity due to the convergence of four tectonic plates that produces a complex mixture of structures. The main tsunamigenic features in the Makassar Strait are the Palu-Koro and Pasternoster transform fault zones, which form the boundaries of the Makassar trough. Analys...
